Amplification
• èIs a technique to
introduce details that are not formulated in the ST: information, explicative
paraphrasing. Footnotes are a type of amplification. Amplification is in
opposition to reduction. For instance, when
translating “Ramadan” from Arabic,
translate as “Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting”.
